‘Fletcher’s Flyers’ for Charity – by Tracy Fletcher of Campbell & Fletcher Recruitment

February 25, 2021

Tracy Fletcher, Managing Director of banking and finance recruitment specialist, Campbell & Fletcher Recruitment, explains why she is delighted that Nick Smith is joining ‘Fletcher’s Flyers’ for charity.

Once again, Campbell & Fletcher Recruitment is a proud supporter of the Smart Works charity, which operates from eight locations across the UK, and provides clothing and interview training to unemployed women in need. This helps them to be at their best by giving them the confidence, self-belief, and tools to help transform their lives.

As part of its annual fund-raising activities, Smart Works organises its annual cycling challenge, whereby teams of five ‘cyclists’ aim to ride over 500 miles, starting on the 1st March and finishing on the 8th March, which is International Women’s Day.

Last year’s event saw 250 teams from across the UK cycle over 107,000 miles and raise more than £100,000 for the charity; enabling Smart Works’ clients to continue to receive the support they need to succeed.

I am delighted to have assembled a crack team from the world of banking and finance under the banner of “Fletchers Flyers” for CYCLE FOR SMART WORKS 2021, including Reward’s Group Managing Director, Nick Smith.

While our goal is 500 miles, there was a bit of a competition last year as to which team could cycle the furthest. I feel that we have a pretty good chance to beat EVERYONE else, as we have built an amazing team of riders in “Fletchers Flyers”.

I read somewhere that ‘Great Leaders are not the best at everything. They find people who are best at different things and get them all on the same team’; I am clearly the weakest link but will obviously pedal as fast as my little legs will let me though.

As a volunteer coach at the Leeds office, I get to see first-hand how the Smart Works service provides amazing support to women who, all too often, have challenging personal lives at the same time as trying to succeed in the workplace. We do genuinely empower the clients of Smart Works and help them to become confident and the best versions of themselves.

It is a cause very close to my heart and we are grateful to have recruited Yorkshire’s equivalent to Sir Chris Hoy, Nick Smith, to the team who will be getting on his Peloton to try and help us smash our target.
