SME funder, Reward Finance Group has run, baked, quizzed, entertained and dressed up to raise £18,000 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, one of the largest donations the hospice has received in the last 12 months.

The Reward team set itself an ambitious target of raising £5,000 for the hospice, but they smashed it by raising £9,000, which was match funded by the company, resulting in the impressive final amount.

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice plays a vital role in the surrounding area providing expert hospice care as well as emotional support to patients and their loved ones at a very difficult time in their life.

The charity was nominated by one of Reward’s Portfolio Managers, Karen Paige, who has over the past few years witnessed on a personal level the wonderful care they provide and as such Reward’s offices in Leeds and Manchester were keen to support the hospice.

Andrew Wood, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, was delighted to receive the donation from Reward.

“We have so many wonderful supporters, many of whom have lost loved ones because their lives have been cut short through cancer, heart failure and lung disease,” he said.

“Like Karen, people have witnessed the care we provide and want to continue to support us after their loss. Their generosity is wonderful and without them we could not operate. Literally every penny counts so whether it is a small amount or a significant one, like the one from Reward, it all helps towards the care of loved ones and friends.

“All our care services are completely free of charge to patients and their families. However it costs £3.2m to run the hospice and only part of these costs are covered by statutory funds. This year we need to raise £2.1m in donations to continue to provide our specialist care services.”

Speaking about the fundraising, Karen Paige said,

“I have total admiration of the work carried out by the team at Manorlands and the wonderful care given to those who are suffering from such devastating illnesses.

“We have a wonderful team at Reward who were really keen to get behind the fundraising efforts when I told them about my own experiences of this amazing place. We have had great fun raising the money for the hospice over the last year and it is really generous of the company to match our incredible total.”
